Welcome from the Headteacher
Stuart Hayter welcomes you to Alfred Salter Primary School.
Alfred Salter opened in 1995 to meet the growing demand for school places on the Surrey Docks Peninsula. Today the school admits 60 pupils in each year group and has a 50 place double nursery.
Nourish a child project
As part of Stuart’s commitments overseas, he has been working with schools in the Philippines since January 2010. Alfred Salter School is proud to be part of an exciting project with the SIETE CENTRAL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, in Barangay Central, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, Philippines. Siete Central is a large village school on the Island of Mindoro which lies south of the largest Island, Luzon, and about 100km from Manila. Stuart and Alice, the Principal of the school are committed to developing a long term partnership which will be of mutual benefit to both schools. Our first project is to help the school raise funds for the Nourish - a - Child project which will provide a daily meal for 195 pupils who are currently underweight and malnourished. This will ensure better attendance rates and better progress for these children and will improve their opportunities in the future. Fund raising by the school next year will be coordinated by the school council and will focus on this project. We hope to develop other links with the school including teacher exchanges and curriculum projects.
