Pupil Premium

The pupil premium grant is additional funding given to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers. It is allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), Looked after Children, children adopted from care and Service Forces children. It also includes pupils who have been eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years (known as the Ever 6 FSM measure).

If you think your child may eligible to receive this additional funding and support but are not sure whether the  school are aware of this, please speak in confidence to a member of staff in the school office, Sharon our Family Support Worker or Adam Bridle.

Schools are free to spend Pupil Premium funding according to how they feel each individual child can best be supported. Below is our plan for spending in this academic year as well as details of how we at Alfred Salter Primary School have spent the funding in previous years and the impact it has had on learning.

Our Recovery Premium, following the impact of COVID-19 on schools, is also detailed in the Pupil Premium Strategy. It incorporates research findings and a 3-year strategy to meet needs of children with barriers to learning.
