Being a parent is one of the most important jobs in the world, but it can also be one of the toughest, as family life can often be challenging and demanding. Sometimes you may feel like you want some extra help, support or advice but you don’t know which way to turn. Our Family Support Worker runs a variety of one-to-one sessions and workshops to help you feel more confident in your role as a parent or carer.
The Family Support Worker at Alfred Salter Primary School works alongside teaching staff to provide an extra layer of support for the parents and carers of our pupils, providing individually tailored practical and professional advice and guidance on all aspects of parenting.
The Family Support Worker can offer home visits, attend meetings with you and may be able to signpost you and/or make referrals for you or your family to other agencies.
We can help with such issues as:
Managing challenging behaviour
Loss and bereavement
Communicating with your child
Family break downs
Smoking, drugs and alcohol
Attendance and Punctuality
Parenting advice and parenting support is available to parents of children aged 1 to 18 years.
As well as formal appointments, the Family Support Worker runs daily drop-in sessions during the morning and afternoon, giving parents an opportunity to express any concerns around family matters, get tips, have a chat and feel supported.
Drop in sessions – 8am – 9.30am – 3pm – 4pm.
